Mine Closure and Costing

We have gained experience in mine closure and rehabilitation throughout all project cycles, including planning, construction, operation and closure.  Phil Scott (Director) is deputy chair and a foundation member of the Mine Rehabilitation Fund Advisory Panel, an independent panel advising the Department of Minerals and Petroleum (DMP) on mine closure and rehabilitation issues.

We were the first in WA to prepare a Mine Closure Plan (MCP) for a major mining operation (FMG’s Solomon Project) under the new DMP requirements, and since then have written, managed or reviewed MCPs for numerous other projects, including:

  • Nyidinghu, Io and Northstar Projects, and several subsequent MCP revisions for the Solomon Project – FMG
  • North Capel, South Capel, Murray Basin Operations, Yoganup West and Yoganup Extended Projects – Iluka Resources
  • Jack Hills Project – Crosslands Resources
  • Clampton Gold Project – Clampton Gold

Our personnel have also managed or conducted mine closure and rehabilitation cost estimate assessments for Iluka Resources, Sons of Gwalia, Boddington Gold Mine, Solomon Project (FMG), Extension Hill Mining Project, Koolan Island and Tallering Peak (Mt Gibson Mining).

Our personnel have hand-on rehabilitation experience at numerous mine sites in the Goldfields, South-West and Mid-West of WA.
