About Preston Consulting

Founding Directors, Phil Scott and Catherine Pinchin, established Preston Consulting in 2009 recognising that experienced, independent and focused expert advice and project management is essential to achieving objectives in a fast moving and dynamic environment. Preston Consulting was created to provide clear and concise independent expert advice and support predicated on honesty, integrity, sound technical knowledge and project management to achieve client objectives.

We are a professional group of environmental, technical and commercial consultants and specialist experts, who provide independent advice and management to both the public and private sectors. We provide bespoke solutions and our leadership team is involved in each and every project to ensure the client’s objectives are delivered.

We have been pivotal in the establishment of a wide range of resource management and infrastructure projects. We have provided services ranging from due diligence, pre-feasibility and feasibility investigations, land access and heritage management, primary and secondary approvals and industry implementation, compliance, research and investigations, right through to project closure and rehabilitation.

We tailor the extent of services from a full turnkey service, to advice and facilitation in targeted project areas.

Phil Scott

Director

Phil has a background in environmental science with experience spanning over 40 years in resource management, agriculture, mining, industrial development and conservation.  Phil is a foundation Director of Preston Consulting dealing with environmental planning, project development, tenure and approvals giving him a wealth of experience in what it takes to get Projects (large and small) up and running.

His experience includes representing companies, Indigenous groups and government on a range of projects – from renewable energy infrastructure to mining, export facilities to aquaculture.

In his spare time Phil has served in a range of roles on the Shark Bay World Heritage Advisory Committee, Mine Rehabilitation Fund Advisory Committee and Chamber of Minerals and Energy.

Catherine Pinchin

Director

Catherine has over 35 years of experience in resource, infrastructure and environmental management across a broad range of environmental, resource management, planning, events and development projects.

Catherine is a foundation Director of Preston Consulting and has particular strength and demonstrated success in leading multi-party negotiations to achieve outcomes within tight time frames.

An experienced project manager with a strong basis in strategy and negotiations, she has great communication skills and is adept at identifying and ethically resolving conflict. Having sat on the “owner’s team” for many projects, she has a sound knowledge and keen nose for identifying key project outcomes and ensuring their delivery.

Gavin Edwards

Director

Gavin is an experienced Environmental and Marine Consultant that specialises in environmental impact assessment and approvals, with more than 20 years’ experience across many major infrastructure and mining / resource projects of State significance.

He has fulfilled various roles and completed a range of tasks throughout his career, including obtaining a broad range of approvals, identifying environmental requirements for design and construction, scoping and commissioning environmental and marine surveys and monitoring, stakeholder engagement, assessing compliance, and developing environmental management plans and procedures.

Gavin’s recent responsibilities have been focused on EIA, Government approvals, strategic project advice and planning.
